Long-time member Milt joined the Board in 1994. He is a working musician and a retired music teacher. Along with Ed Keller, he developed and managed the youth music competitions in Hayward for many years. He was instrumental in developing the Hayward Honor Band. As a response to the dwindling focus on music in the school district, Milt helped get a grant and rallied music teachers to develop the first Hayward Band and Orchestra Festival, which has been part of the Alameda County Art IS Education program. He is teacher and camp director of the Hayward La Honda Music Camp, directs a community swing band for Castro Valley Adult School, and is Board Member for YMCA Camp Jones Gulch, which promotes music, art and camping for youth.
