Ruey Lin Syrop, Board Member
Ruey Lin Syrop has been a member of the Hayward Arts Council (HAC) since 1994, when she was working full-time and raising a family and her time for volunteer activities was limited. Now she is happy to be fully immersed in HAC activities, the primary one being serving as Curator at the John O’Lague Galleria.
Ruey has a BA degree in Fine Art from the National Taiwan Normal University and an AS degree in Electronic Engineering at Chabot Community College. She worked as an integrated circuit layout designer in Silicon Valley for 20 years. After retiring in 2016, she became a full-time artist, and obtained a post-baccalaureate certificate in visual art from UC Berkeley Extension in 2018.
Ruey works with materials such as oils, acrylics, pastels, mixed media, and Chinese ink, and takes photos as well. She has been a participating member of the Hayward Arts Council, A.R.T. Inc., Sun Gallery, Hayward Area Historical Society, and group art exhibitions for many years, including solo exhibitions in San Francisco and Oakland.
