HOLIDAY HOUSE

The Holiday House Restaurant sat directly beside the Holiday Bowl and completed the feel of a full entertainment complex. Opening around the same time in the early 1960s, it served as the dining counterpart to the bowling alley.

Many Hayward residents remember it for weekend breakfasts, post‑bowling dinners, and the comfortable, slightly retro atmosphere that never tried to reinvent itself.

The Holiday House also functioned as a community meeting spot, hosting club gatherings, casual celebrations, and countless coffee‑and‑pie conversations. When the entire Holiday complex was eventually torn down, the Holiday House disappeared with it, leaving behind a warm nostalgia for a simpler, community‑centered era in Hayward’s history.
